A New Day Skipper 😊

Early morning dew on the bow of Moosk, the beautiful 58 foot, Gaff Yawl I've been sailing off Plymouth. We had a glorious week with dolphins, sparkling skies, fair winds and a bit of fog. With Lucy, as first mate, on the left and Roo, as skipper, on the right, we had perfect conditions for training. Michelle and Dylan accomplished the RYA Competent Crew and I got my RYA Day Skipper certification 😊

We sailed around the Sound, anchored at Cawsands, went up the coast to Salcombe (in the fog) and then Dartmouth, before an overnight at anchor in the river Yealm for man-over-board practice in the bay. The last day finished with some night navigation and bringing Moosk into her mooring on the pontoon at the Plymouth Yacht Haven at midnight! It was thrilling to have so much time at the helm and planning passageways and pilotage; rescuing Man-Overboards - and very proud to "park" her in the dark!

Huge thanks to the Island Trust, who operate Moosk, Pegasus and Johanna Lucretia, for sail training on traditional boats - and especially to Roo and Lucy for an exhilarating week and for my Laminated Day Skipper licence! Good luck to Michelle and Dylan for their next steps too ....

Go Clare, come and sail NZ waters.... Lyttelton has just regained SailGP for 2024 as Auckland couldn't get their act together!!! LMAO

Thanks for the Christmas card and your alerting us to this blog.
